 SCOPES Project 7 IP 65642

This is an Institutional Partnership (IP) Project supported by the SCOPES Program of the Swiss NSF.

Duration: January 2002 - June 2004

ETH Zurich was one of the first universities in Europe to introduce a curriculum in Computational Science and Engineering (CSE). CSE is a rapidly growing multidisciplinary area comprising mathematical modeling, scientific computing and the use of computers for analyzing scientific and technical problems. The curriculum in CSE at ETH has influenced the current SIAM definition of CSE. Presently, an inter-departmental structure is being established to further promote and coordinate CSE activities in the research units university-wide at ETHZ.

Guided by the partners from ETH Zurich, a number of universities in Bulgaria (BG) and Macedonia (MK) under the leadership of the Institute of Mathematics and Informatics (IMI) at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (BAS) are planning to coordinate the education and to strengthen research in CSE.
